• Work with the Explainable AI research group at the ZHAW Centre for Artificial Intelligence
• Acquire, analyze, and preprocess intrusion detection datasets from public and real-world sources
• Implement reproducible data pipelines with standardized preprocessing, data splits, and documented provenance
• Design, implement, and evaluate different anomaly detection models for intrusion detection systems, including transformer, graph-based, and diffusion-based models
• Integrate and evaluate explainable AI techniques and experiment with large language models to create human-readable summaries
• Conduct experimental evaluations and comparative analyses of developed methods, focusing on predictive performance, explainability, and operationalization
• Help develop an operational demonstrator showing explainable AI for intrusion detection
• Support the preparation of technical reports, scientific publications, and presentation materials for conferences and workshops

• Recent and excellent Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, AI, data science, or a related technical or scientific field, with focus on machine learning and artificial intelligence
• Strong interest in AI methodology and explainability; prior experience is a plus
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with deep learning frameworks and tools like PyTorch
• Experience with intrusion detection systems is beneficial
• Strong motivation, creative problem-solving skills, careful and reliable work style
• Ability to work independently and as part of an international, interdisciplinary team
• Excellent English language skills
