Join an applied research project at ETH Zürich focused on using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) to study railway track conditions. You will help with experiments on a test track, working with experts from ETH Zürich, SBB, and Terra Vermessungen AG. This role offers hands-on experience in geophysics and railway infrastructure while supporting your studies with flexible hours.

Deine Aufgaben

  • Help plan and prepare the experimental campaign, including test track setup, material handling, and measurement protocols
  • Take part in on-site GPR measurement activities with project partners
  • Prepare laboratory samples and characterize materials, such as measuring moisture content and fouling levels
  • Organize and check data quality, and keep documentation up to date
  • Process signals and perform exploratory data analysis on collected GPR profiles

Was du mitbringst

  • You are currently enrolled at ETH Zürich (Bachelor's or Master's level)
  • You have an interest in geophysics, civil engineering, or data-driven infrastructure monitoring
  • You enjoy hands-on field and laboratory work
  • You have programming experience, preferably in Python, for data analysis tasks
  • You are available for on-site work during the experimental campaign (May–June 2026)
