Join a collaborative research project exploring how glioblastoma tumor cells interact with neurons using advanced technologies. Work with leading teams at ETH Zurich and University Hospital Heidelberg to uncover new therapeutic targets in brain cancer.

Deine Aufgaben

  • Set up and study human neuron-tumor co-cultures using iPSC-derived neurons and patient-derived glioblastoma models on high-density microelectrode arrays (HD-MEAs)
  • Record and analyze how tumor invasion changes neuronal network activity over time at both single-cell and population levels
  • Use spatial transcriptomic techniques to map gene expression differences between tumor-connected and unconnected neurons
  • Combine functional and transcriptomic data to find molecular mechanisms behind glioblastoma-neuron interactions
  • Help with drug screening efforts focused on neuron-tumor connectivity

Was du mitbringst

  • PhD in neuroscience, biology, bioengineering, or a related field
  • Strong skills in cell culture, including work with primary neurons or iPSC-derived cells
  • Experience with electrophysiology (such as patch-clamp or MEA recordings)
  • Proven scientific productivity with publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English
  • Bonus: Experience with cancer models or glioblastoma research
  • Bonus: Familiarity with transcriptomic methods (RNA-seq, FISH, spatial transcriptomics)
  • Bonus: Programming skills for data analysis (Python, R, or MATLAB)

Was wir dir bieten

  • Full-time position funded for up to 3 years
  • Work in a collaborative, international team at ETH Zurich's Basel campus
  • Access to state-of-the-art HD-MEA technology and microscopy facilities
  • Close partnership with a leading cancer neuroscience group in Heidelberg
  • Professional development support and the chance to make a positive impact
  • Benefits include public transport season tickets, car sharing, sports programs, childcare, and attractive pension plans
