Join an interdisciplinary research group at ETH Zurich and work on cutting-edge algorithms and systems for interactive design, geometry processing, spatial computing, creative AI, and computational fabrication. Be part of ETHAR, a new initiative focused on advancing Augmented Reality, supported by a Google donation. Your research will help develop new methods for calibrating extended reality (XR) devices, supervised by leading professors in the field.

Deine Aufgaben

  • Design, develop, and evaluate methods, algorithms, and systems for an online calibration framework using deep learning to combine data from multiple sensors (IMU, cameras, eye-trackers).
  • Train models on a high-fidelity digital twin and explore neural methods to infer key attributes, including camera parameters, from real-world sensor data.
  • Create a system that adapts to physical changes and user context, removing the need for manual setup and enabling seamless XR experiences.
  • Follow the scientific research workflow: define the problem, identify gaps in current methods, design and develop new systems, plan and run experiments, and report findings in articles for top conferences and journals.
  • Participate in regular meetings and feedback sessions to support your progress and success in the project.

Was du mitbringst

  • Strong interest and motivation to contribute to the project's goals.
  • Outstanding academic record with an excellent Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience and passion in at least one of these areas: Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, Computational Imaging, VR/AR Displays & Wearables, Deep Optics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and enthusiasm for research.
  • Strong programming skills; experience with differentiable simulation frameworks is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills in English for effective work in an international environment.

Was wir dir bieten

  • Intellectually challenging position in an inspiring interdisciplinary team.
  • Opportunity to earn a PhD degree from ETH Zurich.
  • Work with impact at a university that supports your professional growth and contributes to positive change in society.
  • Benefits include public transport season tickets, car sharing, a variety of sports through ASVZ, childcare, and attractive pension plans.
