Lead a dedicated team focused on clinical bioinformatics, driving innovation and ensuring robust, scalable solutions for translational and clinical research. You build strong collaborations, manage projects end-to-end, and help turn complex data into clear, actionable results for physicians.

Deine Aufgaben

  • Lead and mentor a team of bioinformatics analysts and software engineers
  • Ensure analyses and workflows are reproducible, scalable, and suitable for clinical and translational contexts
  • Continuously evaluate and integrate new technologies and analytical approaches into research
  • Oversee projects from start to finish, including scope definition, planning, risk management, and documentation
  • Develop and extend pipelines using Nextflow and Snakemake, and set standards for workflow engineering and documentation
  • Take responsibility for project timelines, quality, and stakeholder alignment
  • Build relationships with researchers, clinicians, and partners to shape projects and clarify deliverables
  • Turn complex, multimodal data into clear outputs for physicians, such as dashboards and web-based reports
  • Work closely with clinicians to understand their needs and keep interfaces simple
  • Stay updated on developments in bioinformatics, AI, and data-driven medicine, and translate new methods into clinical solutions
  • Collaborate with Software Engineering, Systems Operations, Biostatistics, and Screening & Lab Automation teams
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop team members, encouraging knowledge exchange and high standards
  • Plan capacity, prioritize work, and help with budgeting and reporting for the group

Was du mitbringst

  • Proven leadership experience in clinical bioinformatics, genomics, or translational research
  • Hands-on experience developing and extending analysis pipelines and reusable components
  • Experience with workflow management using Nextflow and/or Snakemake, and ability to set team standards
  • Daily practice with Git version control
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, especially with clinicians
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Solid programming skills in Python or R, with good code quality habits (reviews, testing, documentation) strongly expected
  • Experience with a range of data types, from variant calling and expression analyses to single-cell sequencing
  • Experience with quality control and reporting in genomics or transcriptomics
  • Advantageous: experience in statistics or advanced software engineering, HPC usage, and Bash
  • Knowledge of German is a plus
