This is a two-year position based at SLF Davos, working on advancing snow modelling for operational meteorological applications and improving forecasting of natural hazards like avalanches and floods.

- Model snow dynamics in operational models such as ICON and SNOWPACK
- Work to improve land surface modelling, with a focus on forecasting natural hazards
- Collaborate with international teams of model developers
- Integrate into the snow processes / CRYOS group at SLF and the Numerical Prediction Division at MeteoSwiss
Was du mitbringst
- University degree in meteorology, engineering, natural sciences, or physics
- Strong background in numerical modelling
- Programming skills in FORTRAN, C++, Python, or GPUs
- Interest in contributing to next-generation weather and snow models
- Skills in German and English
- Experience working with HPC infrastructure
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities
