You join a fully funded, full-time PhD program for four years in Zurich. You work in an interdisciplinary research environment at ETH Zürich, focusing on human–computer interaction in architectural design and fabrication, with a special focus on extended reality, machine vision, and human-robot collaboration.

Deine Aufgaben

  • Conduct independent research within the project scope
  • Perform literature reviews and stay updated on related work
  • Design and run experiments and case studies
  • Document research using version control, lab notebooks, protocols, and datasets
  • Collect, clean, and analyze data using methods like qualitative coding, statistics, simulation, or machine learning
  • Publish results in peer-reviewed venues and contribute to paper writing
  • Support lab operations, including maintaining equipment, onboarding, and shared infrastructure
  • Assist with teaching, tutorials, and critique sessions
  • Supervise and mentor Bachelor and Master students in studio and course activities
  • Implement research code and maintain repositories with testing, documentation, and reproducibility
  • Contribute to grant writing, progress reports, and project administration

Was du mitbringst

  • Hold an architectural or advanced technical degree at FHEQ Level 7
  • Strong interest in programming; experience with Python and C# is ideal
  • Proficient in 3D modelling environments and XR software; experience with Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, and Unity is an advantage
  • Experience in robotic fabrication, digital fabrication, or human–robot interaction is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with XR technologies, UX development, or experimental prototyping is an asset
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
